As a Chicago wedding photographer, I’ve seen some unique venues—but Ironwood on the Vermillion is easily one of my personal favorites. It offers the perfect mix of rustic charm and wide-open space. Though it’s located in La Salle, IL—roughly 90 minutes from the city—it’s absolutely worth the drive. With its scenic ceremony setup and classic barn backdrop, it’s an ideal space for couples dreaming of romantic portraits and a relaxed yet joyful wedding!
This wedding was packed with entertainment—from a mechanical bull (yes, I rode it too) and amazing Southern BBQ (which I still think about), to an emotional first touch between the couple and a touching first look with the bride’s dad. To top it all off, the couple dedicated a full hour to portraits, giving us plenty of time to explore and capture the beauty this space had to offer.
